1-Day Rau Forest Nature Walk

08:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Moshi (or Arusha upon request). Meet your professional guide and enjoy a short drive to Rau Forest. 08:30 AM – Arrival at Rau Forest Upon arrival, begin a guided walking tour through the beautiful Rau Forest Nature Reserve. This protected groundwater forest is fed by the underground streams originating from Mount Kilimanjaro and is home to a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna. During the walk, your guide will introduce you to the unique ecosystem while pointing out various bird species, butterflies, monkeys, towering fig trees, and medicinal plants used by local communities. The peaceful atmosphere and shaded trails make this an ideal escape into nature. 10:30 AM – Bird Watching & Nature Photography Spend time observing the abundant birdlife and capturing memorable photographs of the forest scenery. Rau Forest is a favorite destination for bird enthusiasts, with many colorful resident and migratory bird species found throughout the year. 11:30 AM – Visit to the Historic Railway Bridge Continue your walk to the historic railway bridge that crosses the forest. Learn about its history and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape before returning to the entrance. 12:30 PM – Lunch Enjoy a delicious lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant, where you can sample authentic Tanzanian cuisine while relaxing before the afternoon excursion. 02:00 PM – Transfer to Chemka (Kikuletwa) Hot Springs After lunch, drive to the spectacular Chemka Hot Springs, a natural oasis surrounded by large fig trees. The crystal-clear turquoise water is naturally heated by underground geothermal sources, creating the perfect place to relax. 02:45 PM – Swimming and Relaxation Spend the afternoon swimming, floating in the refreshing spring water, or simply relaxing beneath the shade of the trees.
