Is it your dream to climb Mount Kilimanjaro? This tour is a combination between Mount Kilimanjaro climbing and a short Safari to Arusha national park and Tarangire national park. The Marangu Route, also known as the "Coca Cola-Route", is the most popular and oldest route to hike to Uhuru Peak (5895 m), the highest point in Africa. For this experience you need 6 days. Because of the height we have a day for acclimatization included. To complete the trip, a 2-day safari follows.

Day 1 Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport

Welcome in Tanzania! Our guide welcomes you to the Kilimanjaro airport, no matter what time you arrive. He will take you to the hotel in Arusha, where you can sleep in first. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Maybe you want to visit Arusha or just relax.

Day 2 Briefing

This day is to prepare for the great adventure. A guide, who has climbed the mountain many times, comes to hotel and explains the unity of the tour. He checks your equipment and takes care of anything missing. You could ask him everything about Kilimanjaro climbing.

Day 3 First stage (Mandara Hut)

Leaving Arusha hotel early in the morning after breakfast drive direct to Marangu gate. You will meet your guide, chef and porters at Marangu gate and after introduction you will start to climbing from Marangu gate to Mandara Hut taking a picnic lunch with you. Then you walk along easily accessible paths through a beautiful landscape, the rainforest. Walking time: 3 - 5 hours Altitude gained: 800 m.

Day 4 Second stage (Horombo Hut)

Leave Mandara Hut early in the morning, take your picnic lunch with you. A steep climb leads through the rainforest. Later you will reach the steppe covered with heather. The maundi crater is nearby. From there you have a beautiful view to the mountain range. The path continues past Lobelia and Giant Senese until you reach the next hut. Walking time: 6 - 7 hours Altitude gained: 1000 m.

Day 5 Acclimatization

This day is used for acclimatization. The height adjustment is exhausting for the body and you need a break. It is also interesting to exchange experiences with other mountaineers. Take the time to relax. You will need your strength to continue climbing.

Day 6 Third stage: Kibo Hut

Leave Horombo Hut after breakfast, take a picnic lunch with you. On this day you will have a nice view of Mawenzi peak while climbing. Once in Kibo Hut, you will have to sleep as early as possible to have enough sleep because at night you will have to wake up early to climb to Uhuru peak. Walking time: 5 - 6 hours Altitude gained: 1000 m

Day 7 Fourth stage (Uhuru peak)

Wake up at midnight, take some snacks and start to climb to Uhuru Peak. You will reach the summit early in the morning. You did it! What a feeling to have reached the highest point in Africa on your own! Take pictures and enjoy the view! You will start to walk back to Kibo Hut for a meal, which will be ready prepared. After this break you start your way down to Horombo Hut. Walking time: 6 - 10 hours Altitude gained: from Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (1195 m) Altitude lost: from Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut (2195 m).

Day 8 Fifth stage: Back to Marangu Gate

Leaving Horombo Hut after breakfast and walking down to Marangu gate. Reachimg Marangu gate it is time to say "Goodbye" to the guide and the porters. The transfer car will be waiting for you ready to pick up to drive back to your hotel in Arusha. Walking time: 3 - 5 hours Altitude lost from Horombo Hut to Marangu gate: 1800 m.

Day 9 Safari: Arusha National Park

You visit the Arusha national park, where there are still Colobus monkeys. View to Mount Meru and Lake Momella with its thousands of flamingos. Afterwards, you will go on a one-hour walking safari with a ranger, passing by very close herds of buffalo, zebras and antelopes. The destination is the Tulusia Waterfall.

Day 10 Tarangire National Park

Game drive in Tarangire National Park, known for its large herds of elephants. You can also find giraffes, zebras and antelopes. Watch the animals very well on the watercourse and take fantastic photos! If you are lucky you may also see big cats. After an extensive tour, return to Arusha in the afternoon.
