2-Day Beyond the Clouds Experience Simien Mountains

We drive from Gondar to Sankaber with a brief stop at the Simien Mountains National Park headquarters to arrange the permit. Today's trek covers approximately 12 km and takes around 5-6 hours. The hike goes through highland grasslands, heather forests, and cultivated fields, following a spectacular escarpment with dramatic views. You will encounter friendly gelada baboons foraging in groups. A stunning viewpoint at the Jinbar Falls is reached after climbing a few rocks. This waterfall plunges several hundred meters down the escarpment. At the end of the day, we camp near the area that was once Gich village. Overnight camping.

Today features the most spectacular stage of our trek, offering stunning views throughout the park. We hike for 5-6 hours, including a short detour to Imet Gogo (3925 m), which provides the most exciting panoramic views. The giant lobelia thrives on the Gich plateau, and you may spot the majestic lammergeyer soaring above, along with the endemic thick-billed raven. In the afternoon, we drive back to Gondar.
