2-Day Karisimbi Summit Trek and Volcanoes Experience

04:30 AM: Early breakfast at your hotel in Kigali. * Meet your professional driver-guide for a short briefing, then depart for Volcanoes National Park Headquarters in Kinigi (approx. 2.5-hour drive). * Upon arrival, register for the hike and attend a pre-trek orientation with your ranger guide, who will lead the climb. * Transfer to the trailhead and begin your ascent through lush forest and volcanic terrain. * Porters are available for hire to assist with extra luggage. * Arrive at the overnight camp (approx. 3,700m altitude) in the afternoon. Settle in the camp and chef prepares dinner. * Rest and acclimatize for the summit push.

After an early breakfast, complete the final ascent to the Karisimbi summit (4,507m). Enjoy spectacular views of Mt Nyiragongo, Mt Nyamuragira, and the greater Virunga range. Spend time at the summit for photos and rest, then begin your descent back to the trailhead, which takes most of the morning. Meet your driver and enjoy a well-deserved break before continuing your cultural immersion. Afternoon: Cultural & Conservation Visits Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village - a vibrant cultural center where you'll engage with local traditions, including music, dance, banana beer brewing, and storytelling from ex-poachers turned conservation ambassadors. (Optional, time-permitting): Tour the Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla Fund Campus, home to the Gorilla Museum, interactive conservation exhibits, and insights into Fossey's legacy and gorilla protection efforts. After the visits, transfer back to Kigali (approx. 2.5 hrs), with drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport. End of Tour.
