This tour is designed for hikers who have little time to reach the summit. You will hike on the Marangu Route with one night at Mandara Hut and halfway to Horombo Hut, then you'll hike back to the exit gate. The hike will take you to the rainforest of Mount Kilimanjaro, then to the moorland zone, and leave you with the excitement of hiking on one of the world class seven summits. The Marangu route is the only route that offers accommodation in the huts for overnight hikers.

Day 1 Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast, you will meet our mountain guide and drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. After registration, the hike will commence. It will take you 3 hours through the rainforest to reach to Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings, including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, you will have a chance to see birdlife, Colobus monkeys, and moss plants. Elevation 2,720 m Distance 8 Kilometers Time 3 - 4 hours Vegetation: Montane Forest.
Day 2 Mandara Hut to Half Way towards Horombo Hut then descend to Marangu Gate

You'll leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands towards the Horombo encampment. Views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and grounsels. Then, you'll descend to the Mandara hut for lunch. After lunch the hike back to the gate starts. Then, you'll drive back to Moshi (about 1 hour). Elevation 3,4200 Meters Distance 12 Kilometers Vegetation Moorland zone.
