2-Day Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountains National Park Safari

05:30 AM – Pick-up & Departure Your Kitano Tours & Safaris guide will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, or Mikumi. After a safari briefing, drive to Mikumi National Park. 09:00 AM – Morning Game Drive Upon arrival, begin an exciting game drive across the famous Mkata Floodplain, where wildlife is often seen grazing in open grasslands. Animals commonly spotted include: African elephants Lions Giraffes Zebras Buffaloes Wildebeests Hippos Crocodiles Warthogs Impalas Elands Baboons The park is also home to more than 400 bird species, making it an excellent destination for birdwatching. 12:30 PM – Picnic Lunch Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park's designated picnic sites. 01:30 PM – Afternoon Game Drive Continue exploring different areas of the park while searching for more wildlife and enjoying excellent photography opportunities. 04:00 PM – Transfer to Lodge Leave the park and drive to your lodge in Mikumi for dinner and an overnight stay. 06:30 AM – Breakfast After breakfast, depart for Udzungwa Mountains National Park. 08:00 AM – Guided Hiking Adventure Meet your Tanzania National Parks guide and begin a guided hike through the lush tropical rainforest. During the hike, you may encounter: Sanje mangabey monkeys Iringa red colobus monkeys Tropical birds Butterflies Indigenous plants and trees Learn about the park's unique biodiversity and conservation efforts. 10:30 AM – Visit Sanje Waterfalls Arrive at the breathtaking Sanje Waterfalls, where water cascades approximately 170 meters down the mountainside. Enjoy: Spectacular views Nature photography Relaxation Optional swimming in the natural pool (weather permitting) 12:30 PM – Picnic Lunch Enjoy a picnic lunch while overlooking the beautiful Kilombero Valley. 01:30 PM – Return Hike Descend through the forest while enjoying more opportunities to observe wildlife and admire the surrounding scenery. 03:30 PM – Return Journey Depart Udzungwa Mountains National Park and return to Morogoro, Mikumi, or Dar es Salaam.
