3-Day Danakil Depression & Erta Ale Volcano Tour

Enat Ethiopia Tours will welcome you upon arrival at Bole International Airport. From there, you'll embark on a scenic drive to Bale Mountains National Park, starting early in the morning. Along the way, you'll traverse the picturesque Rift Valley region, making a stop at Dinsho, the park's headquarters. At Dinsho, you'll have excellent opportunities to observe the Mountain Nyala, Menelik's Bushbuck, warthogs, and a variety of bird species, including the Abyssinian Catbird, Abyssinian Long-eared Owl, and White-backed Black Tit. Continuing your journey, you'll cross the Sanetti Plateau, where sightings of the endemic Ethiopian Wolf are possible. Your day concludes with an overnight stay at Basic hotels.

Today will be a day of great contrasts with amazing scenery and birding. You will depart early and ascend the Bale massif onto the Sanetti Plateau, which is between 3800m and 4377m above sea level. This site is an Important Bird Area of immense importance, supporting seven globally threatened species and nearly all of Ethiopia's Highland biome species. Our main target today is to see the plateau's most celebrated resident, the Ethiopian or Simien Wolf, crowned with the unenviable title of "the world's rarest canid." Watching these vibrantly colored animals, most closely related to the European Timber Wolf, exhibiting their hunting prowess while pouncing on Giant Mole-rats (another endemic to the Sanetti Plateau), is surely amongst Africa's greatest wildlife experiences. You should enjoy excellent photographic opportunities in this unique mountain wonderland. Your overnight stay will be at Goba Wube Shebelle Hotel.

You'll drive back to Addis Ababa after breakfast, along the way drive via the Ethiopian Rift Valley, like Lake Langano, and drive to Addis Ababa via Nazreth (Adama). On arrival in Addis Ababa, you'll transfer to your place. Enat Tours will arrange additional hotel nights in Addis Ababa upon request and additional programs.
