3-Day Simien Mountains Wildlife & Hiking Tour

After breakfast in Gondar, drive approximately 2 - 3 hours to the Simien Mountains entrance. Upon arrival, complete park registration and begin your first guided trek in the Sankaber area. Enjoy a scenic introductory hike along the escarpment, offering your first views of the vast mountain ranges and deep valleys. This area is well known for frequent sightings of Gelada baboon troops, often observed grazing in large groups along cliff edges. In the late afternoon, enjoy sunset views over the highlands before settling into your lodge or campsite.

Today is dedicated to a full exploration of the Simien Mountains ecosystem. After breakfast, begin a guided trek through high-altitude trails, valleys, and ridge lines. This is the best opportunity to observe endemic wildlife, including: Large troops of Gelada baboons Occasional sightings of walia ibex on rocky cliffs Endemic highland birds such as lammergeiers (bearded vultures) You will stop at panoramic viewpoints overlooking dramatic cliffs and may visit waterfall viewpoints depending on weather and trekking conditions. A picnic lunch will be served in a scenic outdoor location. Return to your accommodation in the late afternoon for rest and overnight stay.

Start the day with an early morning nature hike to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Simien Mountains. Trek through scenic highland landscapes while enjoying panoramic views and opportunities to spot Gelada baboons, Walia ibex, and other endemic wildlife. After breakfast, depart the park and drive back to Gondar. From Gondar, continue to Addis Ababa by domestic flight or road transfer, where the tour ends.
