3-Day Southern Tanzania Safari

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Dar es Salaam heading towards the scenic landscapes of Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm welcome and proceed directly for a relaxed afternoon game drive. Mikumi is known for its wide, open savannah resembling the Serengeti plains, offering excellent chances to spot: Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Buffalo and Lions. The Mkata Floodplain is particularly rich in wildlife and provides stunning photographic opportunities. In the evening, transfer to your lodge for Dinner and overnight.

After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive exploring deeper into Mikumi’s diverse ecosystems. This day is intentionally unhurried, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in nature. You will explore: Open grasslands, Acacia woodlands and Waterholes attracting large wildlife. Expect to encounter predators such as lions and possibly elusive leopards, along with large herds of herbivores. Bird lovers will also enjoy spotting a wide variety of species. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park, surrounded by nature. Later in the afternoon, continue your game drive before returning to the lodge for Relaxation and Dinner under the African sky.

After breakfast, depart Mikumi for the vast and remote Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s largest protected wildlife areas. Upon arrival, the experience shifts from land to water with a unique boat safari along the Rufiji River, a highlight of this itinerary. This guided boat excursion offers a completely different perspective of wildlife, gliding along the Rufiji River surrounded by pristine wilderness. Expect sightings of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, and buffalo along the riverbanks, as well as rich birdlife including fish eagles and kingfishers. The boat safari is peaceful, scenic, and highly photogenic, offering a memorable finale to the safari experience. A picnic lunch will be provided in a scenic riverside location, allowing time to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. After the experience, transfer back to Dar es Salaam Airport for onward departure, marking the end of the safari.
