After early breakfast depart to Tarangire for a full day game drive at Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk cacophonously in the high canopy.

After breakfast you will make your way to Serengeti National Park for a full-day game drive (and picnic lunch). A million wildebeest, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfill their instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life here. They participate in a frenzied three-week bout of territorial conquests and mating, as well as a survival of the fittest as they plunge in 40km (25 mile) long columns through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north. After a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily, the 1,000 km (600 mile) pilgrimage begins again.

Awake early morning for a game drive in Serengeti National Park where you may see wildebeests, lion, elephant, leopard, impala, gazelle, cheetah, and maybe wildebeests migration before you take brunch. As the evening approaches, travel through the scenic highlands toward Ngorongoro, arriving at Marera Valley Lodge for a peaceful night’s stay in the heart of the countryside.
