6-Day Wilderbest Calving Season Migration Ndutu

Today, post-breakfast, you'll be picked up from your lodge for a 2-hour, 110km drive to Tarangire National Park with lunch boxes. This park is renowned for its vast herds of elephants, lions, leopards, diverse birdlife, and a variety of landscapes and wildlife. The beautiful Silale Swamp, situated in the park's south, is a haven for abundant wildlife thanks to its consistent water source. Tarangire River also provides water, serving as a vital resource during the dry season for animals across the region, promising exceptional wildlife sightings. After a full day in the park, you'll head to Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you'll journey to Ngorongoro Ndutu, a crucial stop on the yearly migration route of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes, along with their predators. They gather here for grazing and birthing, typically between December and April, depending on the rains. The forests near Lake Ndutu and the small hills also teem with resident wildlife. In January, the wildebeests start calving. Your dinner and overnight stay await at Kenzani Tented Camp.

Following breakfast, we'll venture to the southernmost part of Serengeti National Park, known as Ndutu. This area, located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, is an integral part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. While Lake Ndutu is alkaline like many Rift lakes, its water remains drinkable and sustains a diverse range of local wildlife. From December to April, you'll typically find the majority of the wildebeest migration on the short-grass plains. The Ndutu Region extends from the northern section of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the unfenced southern boundaries of Serengeti National Park, creating a unique blend of these two remarkable wilderness areas. After lunch and an extensive game drive, you'll spend two unforgettable nights in this extraordinary location.

Early morning, post-breakfast, head straight to the heart of Serengeti National Park for game viewing. Serengeti is world-renowned for its natural beauty and scientific significance, boasting the highest concentration of plains game in Africa. The park is most famous for the great wildebeest migration, with over a million wildebeest and around 200,000 zebras moving south for the short rains in October and November, then returning north and west after the long rains in April, May, and June. This incredible migration is a testament to their relentless instinct to move, overcoming drought, gorges, and crocodile-infested rivers. Serengeti is the iconic home of the great wildebeest migration, and it's where you'll truly experience an African safari. Your dinner and overnight stay await at Matawi Serengeti Camp.

After an early breakfast, you will drive out of the Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater for a game-viewing drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most famous sites and is said to have the highest density of wildlife in Africa. Sometimes described as an eighth Wonder of the World, the Crater has achieved world-renowned status, attracting an ever-increasing number of visitors each year. You are unlikely to escape other vehicles here but you are guaranteed great wildlife viewing in a genuinely mind-blowing environment. There is nowhere else in Africa quite like Ngorongoro! It is one of the best places in the country to see the endangered black rhinoceros. The park is home to the entirety of the Big Five and is a particularly good place to see lions and cape buffalos all year round. A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site. Afterward, you will drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Marera Mountain View.

Today, we head to Ngorongoro Crater early. It's the world's largest intact volcanic crater, home to around 25,000 large animals like zebras, wildebeest, and elephants. If luck's on our side, we might spot rhinos! In the afternoon, we'll return to Arusha to your owned booked hotel, concluding your safari adventure.
