7-Day Budget Kpap-Quality Kilimanjaro Trek Machame Route

We will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and head to Machame Gate, where you will complete the necessary registration procedures. You'll begin the trek through the rainforest to Machame Camp, where your tents will be already set up for you. You'll enjoy dinner and spend the night at the campsite.

After breakfast, you will leave the camp and continue ascending by crossing little valleys and steep rocky ridges covered with heather plants. You'll head to the western side of the mountain where the camp is situated. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacular view of Mount Meru, Shira Plateau, Kibo Peak, and the beautiful sunset. You will have dinner and spend the night at this camp, surrounded by breathtaking views.

You'll begin your important acclimatization day with an early breakfast. You'll continue trekking east to a junction leading to Lava Tower Rock at 4600m for acclimatization. You will enjoy lunch at Lava Tower and then descend to Barranco camp. Barranco camp is located in the bottom valley of Barranco wall, where you will stop for dinner and spend the night.

On this day, you will trek up to the Barafu Ridge campsite, which can be challenging due to the high altitude. The walk may only take a few hours because of the short distance, but it is steep, so maintain a slow pace to avoid fatigue. trek across an alpine desert, and be prepared for the possibility of a strong, cold wind blowing from Kibo Peak and its ice. You will have dinner at an elevation of 4620 meters and rest until midnight when you will begin your summit ascent.

You will wake up at midnight and have a light breakfast to prepare for your summit climb. You'll start your climb before dawn to reach Uhuru Peak around sunrise, passing through switchbacks on steep scree or snow. You will reach Stella Point at 5,861m between 4 and 5 am for stunning views of the crater and glaciers. You'll continue hiking for an hour along the Kibo crater rim to Uhuru Peak. Take photos as desired. You will descend to Barafu campsite, have lunch, rest, collect equipment, and continue down through moorland and heath zones to Mweka campsite. You'll enjoy dinner and spend the night.

You will begin your last day on the mountain after breakfast, descending to Mweka park gate. You will walk through the Montane forest during the 3-4 hour descent. At the gate, sign out and prepare to board the vehicle for the transfer back to your hotel in Arusha. Receive your certificate and celebrate your successful trek.
