Best 3-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Trek

You will depart from Moshi to Marangu Gate for a maximum of 1 hour 30 minutes of driving and then doing necessary formalities like registration before beginning your trek. The hiking trail begins by ascending a beautiful, tropical rainforest. At the upper edge of the forest line, you will have the opportunity to see both colobus and blue monkeys. The trail then widens to expose beautiful hillsides until you reach Mandara Hut.

You will start the day continuing through the forest passing through Maundi Crater until the trail opens into high moorland. You may get your first views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks —two of the three volcanic peaks that make up the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Then, you'll continue ascent with the moorland zone until you reach Horombo hut.

On your last day, you will have a long trek, mostly downhill, through the Moorland and tropical rainforest. Once at the park headquarters at Marangu Gate, a vehicle will meet you here and drive you back to Moshi for a hot shower. The drop-off point will be in Moshi or Airport.
