After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel in Moshi. You'll leave Moshi town at 8:30 AM and drive about 45 minutes to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. You'll do the necessary paperwork at the park gate, such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 9:30 AM. You'll hike through the rainforest from the park gate (6000 ft) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft), taking about 3 – 4 hours. You'll stop halfway for lunch. You'll reach Mandara Huts at about 01:00 pm. After a short tour at Mandara, you will have to go to the Hut for an evening meal and an overnight stay.

The path up the mountain is covered with stones that can easily make you trip, so be sure to wear good shoes. Also, a sweater is recommended, as it can get quite cold at these altitudes. And have your camera ready — you don’t want to leave without taking some pictures of the incredible views. In the afternoon, you'll be dropped off at a hotel in Moshi.
